 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:17-18)
The end of a year brings memories of the past year as we reflect on our lives. As I look back at 2008 I am reminded of the Spirit of the Lord guiding me every single day.
I began 2008 with a conscious and prayerful decision to let go of all the little tasks I was taking care of in order to focus on my calling, full-time ministry. I had to trust in the Lord with all my heart, mind and soul, lean not on my own understanding and stand on the promises of God. As I reflect on the end of 2008, I have nothing but praises and thanksgivings to the Lord for how my life was transformed in just one year. I have found freedom in Christ.
How about you? Has your year been joyful? Has it been full of sorrow? The writer of Corinthians says that we are being transformed with ever-increasing glory. Whether you've had a good year or a so-so year, God is still working in and through us to be transformed into God's likeness. Only when we surrender our all do we achieve freedom. Let's invite the Spirit to dwell in us in 2009.
